Some people have told me, “You should write a book!” This is not a book!! It is, however, my first effort at making a blog. The category called Tales From Green Hell is a rewrite of my journal from my early days in the jungles of Bolivia. Who knows, if I rewrite it a third time, it may become a book!
In the mean time, this will not be your typical blog that comments on current events in the life of the writer. Those, I may write occasionally, but most of my sharing will be of things already past.
I do not pretend to have led an exciting life. Had I been given the choice, I would have skipped most of it. Nor do I promise that a post will keep you riveted to the text till the last period. You enter my blog at your own risk! If you like what you read, scroll on down to the next title that catches your eye. If you get your “Phil” on your first visit, hit the exit button and escape back to your present reality. Please, nobody get bogged down in my blog!

It is my desire that these writings be thought provoking, entertaining, and even funny at times. Above all, I pray they will bring glory to God. By remembering the past and all God has brought me through, I can face an uncertain future. He was faithful then! He is faithful now! He will be faithful tomorrow!
My prayer as I share these stories is that they will point you to God and that you will find Him faithful in your life, too!

About Me
Hi, I’m Phil.

As a teenager, I wanted to be a concert pianist. However, I was mostly self-taught and did not have the discipline to learn to read music well enough to know the score!

I was a believer in Jesus and wanted God to use my life. Instead, of the concert stage, I ended up in the jungles of central Bolivia working as a missionary, ministering to a small people group called the Mbia. I have been forty-nine years with the mission, twenty-two of that in Bolivia.
I am married to Jackie. We have four children, and six grandchildren. We are still with the mission. I now serve on the maintenance team as Chief Sawdust Maker. I work in the carpenter shop supplying cabinets for mission offices and apartments, desks, furniture, and whatever else is needed.
Even though I’ve worked around all those saws for years, now, I have kept all my fingers. I still play my piano every chance I get!
